Mile High Club

Well it took me almost 28 years, but this morning on a flight from Atlanta to Minneapolis I have finally joined the Mile High Club… well maybe not to the standards of some people, but right now I am at 38,000 ft blogging to the world. Let me tell you, it’s quite the rush. :-) I am flying Delta and apparently they have a bunch of flights now that support WiFi. Considering where I am right now the download speeds are actually quite impressive @ 1.3 Mbps. They charge $7.99 for hand held devices, $9.99 for flight under 3 hours or $12.99 for flights longer than 3 hours. It’s not exactly cheep and I probably wouldn’t use it for every flight, but it sure does make the time go by faster.

Well on a personal note, I am on my way back home after a long week of traveling to Philadelphia, Atlantic City, New Orleans and Atlanta (thanks to some unfortunate weather yesterday). I started off my trip in Philly doing some apartment hunting for our big move later this summer in August. From there I went down in AC for the 2009 Adams Cup Golf Tournament. This is a great tournament were a bunch of friends and family get together to play some great courses and relax. This was my 3rd time playing in the tournament and I am very excited to let you know that this year I won the 3-day tourney by 3 strokes. My previous best finish was tied for second 2 years ago. I just want to thank John Adams for another job well done on organizing the event and thanks for letting me be apart of it. On top of winning the tourney it was also great to spend some time with my Dad and brother who also played in it this year.

From AC I went to New Orleans for a Catalog conference for work. Obviously it was a lot of fun, how could I not have fun in a place like New Orleans? The only bad thing about the trip was the trying to get back home. I was bounced on several flight yesterday due to bad weather, and then when I finally got on a plane to connect through Atlanta we had to circle above the airport a couple times and by the time we landed I missed my flight home by literally a minute or two. It was supposed to take off at 10:00pm and I stood at the gate at exactly 10:00pm and they wouldn’t let me on the flight. I could even see the plane was still connected to the gate! Needless to say I was pretty upset with them. So I had to stay over night in Atlanta and catch an early flight this morning.

Alright well I am just starting to ramble and I am probably going to be landing soon so I should probably wrap this up, but I just wanted to share my “Mile High Experience” with all of you. I hope I didn’t bore you too much.

Oh yeah, and more thing…. My good friend Mike Krauklis (You might know him as “Big Mike” started a Bacon Blog that is totally awesome so you should check it out!

Take care guys and I will update you again soon.

Mike
